Our Saturday Workshops are an excellent way for beginners to learn welding. Our workshops run from 8:00am to 4:00pm and include a continental breakfast and lunch. Our experienced instructors will use a combination of classroom and hands-on lab instruction to enhance your understanding of safety, equipment setup, and welding technique on steel. All safety equipment and welding materials are included in the course price. Great for beginners and experienced welders! 

Topics Covered

The focus of this class is to inspire students to create metal sculpture out of steel using MIG and Plasma Cutting processes. Students are encouraged to let their imaginations run wild when creating their works of art. Previous students have made lawn sculpture, coat racks, clocks, animals, mirrors, and even candle holders! The class will be divided into two sessions:

Day 1: Orientation

• The MIG welding process
• The Plasma cutting process
• Welder safety
• Survey of past projects
• Elements of good design
• Welding & plasma demonstrations
• Lunch (provided)
• Student practice welding & cutting, constructing small projects
• Review and planning

Day 2 : Discussion of each student's project plan

• Project fabrication
• Lunch (provided)
• Project fabrication
• Project completion
• Project admiration session
• Workshop wrap-up
